Cruisin'...
I'm looking for some honeymoon help. Scott and I would like to go on at least a 10 day honeymoon, 2 weeks tops. We're planning to go on a cruise for the first part and then vacation at a port of call for the end of the trip.
Does anyone have any experience with cruise ships? We're really laid back and we don't want to go on a cruise with a fancy dress code. We're buffet kind of people. If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it.
We'd be going in October 2009... not the best time of year in the Caribbean with it being hurricane season. We want to snorkel, lay on the beach, and have an all-inclusive second part of the honeymoon.
Any advice on locations?

my partner and I went on an Alaskan cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines. They have casual cruising, you don't have designated meal times. The only dress code that we were aware of was that the men had to wear dress pants and a shirt for dinner, I went many times in a nice pant suit. They do have cruises on the East Coast leaving from New York and Florida. Check them out they might be what you are interested.

Shane and I loved Cozumel. Its a very popular port of call for many cruise ships. It has the best snorkeling, being on a reef. Its a safe place, ie you're allowed to walk around town without escorts. There are many activities to do on the island as well (I highly recommend the ATV's that you can take through the jungle on the north side of the island!)

I went on a cruise with Celebrity cruise lines 6 years ago. We left out of NYC and went to three ports in Bermuda. It was beautiful. But you do need to get dressed up for two formal dinners. All dinners are served to the table, but the buffet is open all day.
The food was amazing. Way better than the five star resort in the Dominican Republic.
