The bachelor party...

It always seems I have something to blog about after watching a t.v. show.  This time it was Beverly Hills 90210... the original series. Friday's episode on TV Tropolis had Kelly and Brandon fighting about Brandon going to a bachelor party.  My dad just recently went to his friend's stag.  It was a poker night.
Do guys still do the whole stripper bachelor party thing? On 90210, Kelly was upset with the fact that there was a stripper at the party.  Brandon said  it was a guy thing. I don't think I could get mad at Scott if there was a stripper at his bachelor party, but it would make me feel a bit uncomfortable.  Its just strange to think that that's what they would want on their last night being single. Girls, what do we do?

What can you tell me about Somali pirates? :)

I recently read a whole message board drama about a bachelor party. The poster was a wife who was extremely upset that her husband was going against her wishes and attending a friends bachelor party. The issue? The husband was using the bachelor parties to openly cheat on his wife, saying 'That's what you do at bachelor parties." No way. I personally have a problem with men (well, MY man) attending 'sexual' events like this. What is the point? You are openly saying 'I don't think you are worthy, and to prove it I'm going to go out and skank around on my last day of freedom.'

Shane had a poker night at a hall with friends.

Our good friend Scott had a great bachelor party. There was six of them that took a limo to the brewery district in Toronto, had a great meal, and planned on going back to the house afterwards for drinks and cards. Unfortch, by that time, Scott was thoroughly trashed and had to be tucked in to bed. *lol* No skanky women involved.

Sorry this is so long. It's a topic I'm extremely passionate about and it makes me angry that women allow themselves to be degraded.

I honestly think that many guys are talked into the "stripper thing" because their buddies convince them it's tradition. I say FOOEY on tradition and go with what you both think is fun...why not a paintball adventure for the guys and a sculpture class or card making / scrapbooking class for the gals. If you really want to turn things around, why not have one of those "Pole Dancing" parties for the gals where they can learn to dance up a storm for their partners? Might not go over so great with the more "mature" ladies in the group but you can always do something more tame separately with them if you wish. Why not get the girls together and take a flower arranging course over a couple of nights ...you can learn something new and at the same time figure out how to do your own flowers.
