Veil...
What's the purpose of wearing a veil? I've researched this a bit. Back in the day, a long time ago... Greek and Roman brides wore a veil because they were scared of evil spirits and demons. Brides didn't wear white. They dressed in bright colours, which were believed to fight off that sort of thing. The veils of Roman brides were red. Since the colour obsured the girl's vision, this led to another tradition, the father walking his daughter down the aisle. That's how the tradition happened with the bride being given away by her father. But what's with the veil now?
In arranged marriages, the veil once acted as a screen to block the bride's face from her husband-to-be. The groom didn't see what his bride looked like until he lifted the veil. And still the custom of wearing a veil continues now when people know each other and most times nowadays live together. Its like the white wedding dress that used to mean chastity. Virginity...it isn't so likely when it comes to brides in the 21st century, is it?
Why do we follow these traditions? What do they mean now? A white wedding dress to me is just the norm. I can't imagine not wearing a white dress. Maybe it will be off-white, but I won't be wearing any other shades from the colour wheel. And the veil? I honestly don't understand why brides wear the veil if they don't have it covering their face?
I know Scott knows what I look like. In fact, he sees my face everyday and I'm sure he has it burned into his brain (poor guy), but still I think if I choose to wear a veil I want it covering my face. Not for the whole ceremony or anything, but just until after I get down the aisle... I think. If I decide not to do that, its safe to say I won't be wearing a veil just for decoration. No offense to any bride's who did, but I just don't get it. I don't want a veil ruining my pretty hair style if its not serving a purpose.

I wore a veil and a tiara. I just like the way a nice long flowing veil looks. I didn't want to mess with the 'over the face' thing, as my wedding was a massive bucking of tradition anyways. ;) If you don't want the veil, there are so many things you could put in your hair. I say find your dress first, and the accessories will find their way to your dress. :)

I think you would look lovely with what ever you choose, but I think a flower in your hair would look best.
