Wedding hair...

    I found a few pictures of how I would like my hair for the wedding. I googled "wedding up do" a million times and then finally found this fantastic hair style that Carrie Underwood had for an awards show.
    What do you think?



    I think it's gorgeous. Now I don't have blonde hair. My hair is dark brown so I'm not sure how different it will look on me, but I will go for my hair trial at some point in the New Year.

Excited!

        My mom is picking up the printed invitations this afternoon from the printer. I can't wait to see them. The proofs looked amazing. Sherri from The Print Place in Ajax was a big help! She put together a map for us to use for the invites as well so people will know how to get to the ceremony site. I will post a picture when I get some put together. The plan is to get them done this weekend with my mom, soon to be mother-in-law and my maid of honour.

Wedding invitations...check!

    After months and months of procrastinating I finally bought our wedding invitations. I bought three make your own invite kits and that's exactly what I plan to do...make them myself.
    The invitations are a metallic gold. So beautiful. The kit came with paper, labels, envelopes...everything I need to make them.
    During my lunch hour today, my mom and I went over to a printing company in Ajax called The Print Place. One of my bridesmaids suggested I get the invites printed there instead of worrying about doing it on my own printer and making mistakes. Sherri was a big help at the store. She helped me with wording the invitations and for under $100 the invites and RSVP cards will all be printed stress free!
    I should have them by the end of the week so I can start putting them together. Will post a picture when I get along to the construction phase :)

Peacock feathers galore...

    I ordered 200 peacock feathers the other day from a feather store online. Who knew there was a feather store? The internet is an interesting place, that's for sure.
    I intend to put those feathers in the centerpieces at each table, in the bridesmaid's bouquets, in the groomsmen's boutineer and as a craft project I'm going to try to crazy glue one on each shoe I'm wearing.
    It may sound like feather overload but it really won't be. I will probably have tons left over.
    I really liked shoes I found by Gwen Stefani's shoe line LAMB. They were ivory with a peacock feather coming up the back of each heel.
    They were almost $400 and too narrow for my feet so I'm going to be crafty.
    I found purple satin high heels for $20 and I'm going to try to glue a peacock feather on each one to recreate the shoe I loved but couldn't have.
    If it doesn't work out...they were only $20 and can be tossed out.
    I think it'll look wild though! Can't wait.

I'm excited to see what kind of ideas my decorator, Annie Lane Events & Decor can come up with :)

Bridesmaid dresses are ordered...

Bit by bit things are getting done. I have just ordered my bridesmaid dresses for the wedding. It's so exciting!
They're made by designer Adrianna Papell and just as we planned the colours are fitting to the peacock theme.
My maid of honour will be in peacock blue and the rest of the girls will be wearing a pansy purple shade of the same dress.

What do you all think of it?
I love the detail and the fact that it's made out of the same kind of fabric my wedding dress is.

Thinking theme...

        My mom and I met with Eva from Annie Lane Events & Decor last week to talk about the budget for the wedding decorations and to find out if the ceremony site Scott and I had chosen would work well on the big day.
    Eva estimated we could fit about 100 people seated in and around the gazebo near the Lake Ontario waterfront in Whitby. It was a relief to me because I was worried we could only fit about 75.
    At our meeting Eva mentioned she had me written down for all of the linens and decorations to be white.
    I had not yet figured out what colours we'd like for the wedding so I agreed for the time being that would be fine, but I would get back to her when a colour scheme came to mind.
    Sunday night, relaxing with Scott watching t.v. it came to me.
    I'd like to do our wedding in a peacock theme.
    We would incorporate all of the colours in the feathers of the peacock into the wedding decorations, flowers and clothing.
    Here are some pictures I found when I began to google this theme. Seems like other people have had it too along the years, and pictures from their weddings are making my mind spin with ideas.
   

   

Wedding dress...check!

        It is one more item checked off on the list. I got my wedding dress Saturday in Toronto.
    A couple of my bridesmaids came along with my mom and I as well as two of my aunts.
    It was crowded but fun and for me, like anything that involves planning, it was overwhelming.
    I got grouchy for awhile. I found the perfect dress after trying on three. I'm very decisive.
    I think the girls wanted me to try on some more but trying on clothes has never been a favourite for me.
    When I found that Paloma Blanca dress I knew it was made for me. I didn't want to try on a lot more and get confused. I did however try on the dress I loved the best back in the winter when I was looking for a dress.
    That dress, was no longer in the running so I'm glad I waited until now to buy my wedding dress.
    Can't show any pictures of course. I will however post a bunch after the wedding. You'll have to wait 10 more months.

 

Picture perfect...

    I just wanted to share a few pictures from my friend Shannon's wedding this past week in Punta Cana.
    She had her new sister in-law, Amanda Millson take the photos and they are outstanding!
    Posed...but not stiff. Very fun!
    I've asked Amanda to take the photos for our wedding and she's agreed.

Wedding party dresses...

This is a picture of some dresses I really love for the girls in my wedding party. Its from David's Bridal. I think the store is just in the states, but we could always order online when it comes closer to the day. What do you think of these dresses in blue?

More mags...

    I just made a stop at the convenience store and bought a couple bridal magazines.
    I'm going to get my pajamas on, curl up on the couch, and read up on all things Spring weddings...   
    Starting all over again is a bit stressful but I'm also super excited...back to step one.
