Art of war

Ambush Bowmanville artist Todd Tremeer opens his new exhibit, A Past Again, at Station Gallery in Whitby on Jan. 10. Tremeer's work has fascinated me since I first came across it. He's a history nut and loves museums. As a child, he loved collecting toy soldiers and made military model kits. These days, he creates art that reflects his interests, paintings that are representations of what he sees in museums, in photographs. That's one of his works here, Ambush, a painting of a portion of a war diorama at Ontario Regiment in Oshawa. In the last year, he's spent much time in Europe, which has given him more ammunition, so to speak, for his art. The exhibit runs through Feb. 22 so get out and see it.

  • We welcome comments but we ask that you observe our guidelines. We like readers who are prepared to stand by their comments by offering their 'real' first and last name - it adds validity to your comments. Stick to the topic and keep it clean.
