Cairo: "Horns honking, crazy cab drivers"
I landed in Cairo early morning on Wednesday (Jan. 9) and immediately went to bed as it was almost 5 in the morning. Things here in Cairo are as hectic as I remember from being here 2 years ago. Horns honking, crazy cab drivers, and a medley of odours ranging from the street-side kebab that I ate for lunch to the local garbage on the street-side.
The groups of riders are slowly arriving from all corners of the world. From what I've encountered thus far it is going t be a excellent group to spend the next 4 months getting to know better.
We had a group meeting this morning and tonight we pack as we leave the hotel very early tomorrow morning. We must be at the pyramids bit after 7 and gone on the road with police escort out of the city by 8.
Starting from the pyramids will certainly be the most exciting starting line I have ever lined up to. We will then be riding south until we reach the Valley of the Kings and Queens, in the city of Luxor. Famous for the tomb of King Tut, and the temple of Karnak. But that is another week away!
Keep the rubber side down
