Time for a Change

As I've grown older I've become more interested and concerned with society and what drives society: big business and politics.  Or perhaps it's big business drives politics and society; sometimes I'm not sure which way it goes...

I've been keeping up with the financial situation for the last few years, strongly suspecting that things were just not sustainable and it seems to be unfolding or should I say crumbling now.  I think we are in a similar situation with politics with elections coming on both sides of the 49th in the next few weeks.  It seems to me that sustainability is what society needs, not just now, but forever.  It is becoming ever clearer that we just can't keep growing, borrowing and promising like there is no tomorrow and be damned with the consequences.

I'm working to make my life more sustainable on a personal level and want to do what I can on a societal level too.  That means I'm going to vote in the coming election and I'm working to help the party who I think will do the most good for this society and future generations.  That is of course the Green party.  I've been impressed with their platform on all issues as I genuinely believe that the principles of sustainability can be applied to every issue facing us today.  I hope you can take a look at their platform and give it serious consideration. www.greenparty.ca/

I don't see any of the other parties leading us towards sustainability.  Particularly the current leader.   It will be interesting to see what happens in the US too as we Canadians are strongly linked to their society.  How much will really change remains to be seen but the times often dictate what a leader can and will do.  Just look at what Bush and his crones got away with when paranoia and greed ran amok.
