Bail Out Rant

Why would anyone want to invest in a company that has unmanageable debt or is losing money hand over fist?  What kind of lousy investment is that.  It appears that is exactly what our government wants to do with our tax dollars.  There is one thing that desperately needs a bail out and that is the environment!

I'd like to see our tax dollars spent in a sustainable manner working with businesses that produce wind generators, solar panels, geothermal, plug in electric cars, etc. etc.  They should be giving out interest free loans for people to invest in their own self sufficient energy generation; solar hot water heaters; Grey water capture and reuse for the sanitary system and so on.  There are so many things that can and need to be done that will take money from the government, business and each and every one of us.  Hopefully this financial crisis will shake people out of their consumer induced fog and make them realize we need to invest in the future rather than filling up with a lot of crap today in some vain quest for satisfaction.

Even now governments are trying to fix the system so we can get back to the insane notion of unlimited growth.  Unlimited growth is just like cancer and I think we all know where that leads.  This would be a good time for giving the environment a check up; going on a diet and getting in shape.

I hope everyone takes a hard look at how they are spending their resources and makes some changes to their priorities.  We can all do a lot to bring positive changes to the environment by making our dollars count.  Invest in our future, it will give you more satisfaction than buying some new gadget that will end up in the garbage within a year.  Because we're worth it and we deserve it.
