**&%!!! Tree Huggers!!

I can't believe how much paper comes into my house daily. We're pretty anal when it comes to recycling and usually we've got a fairly large load for the guys to pick up, but this week? Yikes. I didn't watch but I'm sure they were cursing the day this house of tree-hugging nature lovers was born. We've been doing a bit of a purge lately in preparation for selling the house and the result was that reams and reams of paper were being dumped into that recycling box. Old scripts alone must've accounted for a metric tonne. The film and television industry has never been exactly noted for it's environmental sensitivity. Whole forests have been hacked down in the name of revisions. For a long time I hung on to old scripts thinking in my naive, egotistical way, that they would be worth something someday. Right. Then I saw some of the titles:
The thing that was bad and wouldn't go away.
Wife-swoppers from Mars
Oh, and worst of all...The Love Guru...yeah, real collectibles.

We moved from one area of Durham to another and have noticed a huge difference in our waste habits. Now that we have recycling every week and waste collection every two weeks, we have become awesome recyclers. I was proud of the fact we could fill two blue bins every two weeks: Now, we have three full blue bins a week and sometimes four. And if we're really messy, one full green garbage bag every two weeks.
The green and blue bin system in south Durham is great and the intensified schedule is something all communities in Durham need!
