Where have all the voters gone?
Okee-doke...apparently I should've posted that last blog a little earlier in the day...or maybe month. To this countries everlasting shame we hit a historical low for voter turnout last night. 58 percent. 58 percent! I'm no Stephen Hawking but I believe that means almost half of registered voters sat on their asses and let the future tilt in the wind. Nice. There really should be a publishable list. Something that runs in the papers the next day telling all the rest of us just who 'didn't care' enough to pony up their vote. A little shame is sometimes a good thing. And don't think for a moment it was all the 'new' people to this country. Those poor, illiterate, non-english speaking 'ethnics'. I'll lay you dollars to doughnuts those people voted in droves. Because they often come from places where they can't vote. Where they've never been allowed to vote. They get it. They understand what a privilege it is to live here. As my counterpart on Little Mosque on the Prairie likes to say 'Wake up people!'.

I must agree with you and Cassandra .."SHAME!"and a pox on them all !!

My daughter, who is 24, has voted in every single election since she was voting age - either by proxy or at university. This year, she's in New Zealand and signed up for a special ballot, which she received and sent back, because she didn't want to miss out on voting.

I must agree.
I can't believe so many people disregard their right to vote.
I think it should be a published list too. Shame them all!
And like you said in the previous blog - if you didn't vote, you don't get a say.
