Making waves
Some people just love to stir it up. Witness the gal in Newmarket who simply had to breastfeed her child in the public pool. Not the comfy, dry, chlorine, hair and kid pee-free chairs that had been set up for her at the side of the pool, not even the warm changeroom, or viewing gallery. No she had to sit, half-immersed on the stairs of the pool and feed her little one there. Because she could. Under York Region's very progressive 'Anywhere, Anytime' breastfeeding policy, she is, I guess, allowed to. Obviously, 'Anywhere, Anytime' means you can be an obstinate dope anywhere, anytime, regardless of the health risk to your child. I've swam in a lot of public pools and I have to tell you I wouldn't want my infant child eating anywhere near what's in most of those. The air alone is so heavily laden with Chlorine that it's like being at the Somme. Sometimes a little common sense and courtesy goes a long way. The managers of this pool had gone to some lengths to make available very appropriate nursing areas that were in no way 'putting out' anyone. Some people just love to make waves. Regardless of how small the pool.

I couldn't agree more! As a mother of two, who breastfed both children, I really can't understand why this women is up in arms. She clearly lacks some common sense when it comes to the welfare of her child. I support anytime/anywhere breastfeeding, but I certainly wouldn't feed my children in a pool (public or private), breast or bottle. She is way over the top on this one.

People like she, infuriate me. My phsyche 101 tells me she is boorish, complains for having to wait in long queues in cash lines, treats store clerks and food servers with rudeness, makes her annoyances very loud and clear. She was or still is a smoker and is pissed because her right to smoke anywhere she pleased was squashed like a butt. She is now using her maternal public feeding right to make a point. That poor child having to suckle sour milk.
