Yes we can...and we did.

Images1I think the world woke up feeling better today than it has in a long while. I watched and listened, elated, to President Elect Barack Obama's Speech last night and almost wept with happiness. I rushed out this morning and purchased a bunch of newspapers, understanding only too well the immense historical importance of their predicted headlines. What we witnessed last night was earth-shaking, world changing history. At last. At long last...hope. I am so glad my children were able to watch this thing with us. To hear his brilliant, inspired words. To feel good about their future for a change. When I think of the stature of the man currently sitting in the White House and the man who took the stage last night, I am left shaking my head. Were we all asleep for the past eight years?
I am excited today. I am happy and thrilled and full of 'hope'. That thing that so many made light of during this campaign but which is, in my mind and the minds of many millions of others apparently, the only thing that really matters. A milestone has been reached. A corner has been turned. Enjoy this day.

Hope is given a chance.

I am old enough to remember well the inspiration of JFK, and saw in Obama a reincarnation of the hopes and dreams we all felt then. Did you see the faces in the crowd at Grant Park? I rejoiced and wept along with them.

Double Amen.
We stayed up to watch his speech.
What a wonderful human being he is.
You don't feel like you're listening to a politician when he speaks.
He seems like he is truly a genuine, nice person.
Congratulations Obama! Hope won.

Like you, I am elated that this change has come to pass. I, however, like so many others, lived through the "history" of crusaders from our neighbours to the south and have been filled, literally filled, with a sense of dread for this inspiring man. I have been praying for months that my worst fears never come to pass and that humanity as a whole has risen above the very dark past experienced in the U.S. Mr. Obama has a huge task ahead of him and the whole world is watching and most of us praying for him.

I couldn't agree with you more, I am so glad I got to witness this historic moment and to see the hope on so many faces last night. Change is possible!
