Rough day today. Just bumped into some seriously nasty vibes on a set. Had to dig fairly deep to fight the evil villain with love. Man, some people are just walking, talking pain-makers. Plucked from the breast too early or something, I guess. What makes someone so intensely insecure that they compensate by making everybody else's lives difficult? And how in Gods name do these people rise to levels of power and authority. It would be so nice if there were some legislative/spiritual body that people had to present themselves to before rising up the ladder.
"No, I 'm afraid you cannot have this job that will involve dealing with many people each day."
"Why not?"
"Well, not to put too fine a point on it...you're a dick."
Just some checks and balances in place. And I guess we already have them. The Universe does have it's own set of scales...we all reap what we sow, ultimately. And I suppose I really ought to be thankful. Bumping into a guy like this and a day like this makes all the rest of my life and the wonderful people in it, just that much sweeter. I've haven't been so happy to get home in a long while. So, thanks...dickweed.

Just smile and nod Neil.
These types of people will be dealt with accordingly and eventually.

thanks Neil, I hadn't heard that term "dickweed" in years and it conjurred a memory of a long-lost friend (too early from cancer) who was gruff on the outside and had a heart like yours and would have used the term exactly to describe an individual like you encountered.
Cher, my spouse was a strong contributor and over-performer in her role at a community college and was summarily harrassed out of a job years ago by someone as you have described.
But now Ontario has new health and safety laws, bosses who swear, cajole and harass are dealt with severely for the infliction of psychological damage and physical harm resultant from the toxic poisoned work environment they create.
The bad boss's boss can also be held accountable for severe fines if they don't act on complaints!!
Tell your daughter about it..she or anyone like her doesn't need to put up with any dickweed's venom!
Shalom!

Hey Neil and Cher: I'm thinking that the weed of choice for these two "Dicks" should be Poison Ivy; )

My daughter who has been the head of her department for about 4 years without any problems from management above her, now has a new manager of two weeks. Also, he gained his position through nepotism. He brought her to tears his second day there. He swears at her and treats her like crap and other department staff as well. I told her that he is a prick and always will be and won't be going anywhere. My daughter on the other hand is in college and already has an extremely impressive portfolio related to her career choice studies. I told her, "He doesn't know who you really are. You have helped raise thousands of dollars for Cystic Fibrosis in the past 6 years. You saved my life a few years ago when I was choking to death. You saved a friend's life from self harm. You are a gifted artist. You have a promising career ahead. You have a plethora of friends who love and adore you. This dickweed however, I am quite sure has nothing to offer. Just smile at him when he goes into his tirade and know that you are and always will be more than he can ever be." She then said to me, "One of the managers who saw me crying and came over to me, said basically the same thing." The word I have for "Dickweeds" is much more impacting but I won't write it here. You fill in the blanks.

Dickweed?
Is that in insult to dicks? or weeds?
maybe one of the following would be a better descriptor:
blockhead, dolt, donkey, dope, dunce, fool, idiot, imbecile, jackass, jerk*, nitwit, numbskull, simpleton*, twit
Personally I do like "imbecile". Don't want to insult donkeys and jackasses either.
