All Blacks Keep Winning

Week #6 place the All Blacks at Donevan for a double header against the Mustangs and then the Falcons.  The first game against the Mustangs featured new QB Buzz Bezzant throwing for the ponies while Rich Lafoy continued to toss for the boys in black.  Mathew Chang and Brent Ashby scored multiple times for the All Blacks whose final tally was 34 to the Mustangs 6.  Dave Bright scored the lone touchdown for the Mustangs.
The next game for the All Blacks was against the Falcons.  Rich Lafoy hit his recievers for 18 points in the first half before turning the reigns over to his nephew, Che Lafoy.  In the second half Che was able to put up 20 more points via touchdowns by Brent Ashby, Mathew Chang, and Dave Thomas.  The final score was 38 to 0.
Other games in week #6 were canceled due to scheduling conflicts with the Trillium Tour.

Mustangs/Raiders Dominate

Mustangs soundly beat the Hounds last weekend 24-0 while the Raiders overcame the Falcons 34-0 as well.  The Mustangs have a resurgence in players with some additions from the former Rogues.  Buzz Bezzant is now quarterbacking with the apparent addition of Rick Pottle as halfback.  Meanwhile in Hound land it appears they are still having some difficulty fielding players.  Hopefully they will get it together before the mid season mark.
This coming weekend the Cobras will be in participating in the Trillium Tour.  The All Blacks will be facing the Falcons and Mustangs in a double header at Donevan while the Hawks will be facing the Hounds.  Stay tuned for more up coming posts.

Cobras Twice Unlucky

The Cobras lost in a tough one today to the All Blacks.  The Cobras scored first to lead the game 7 - 0 in the first quarter.  The All Blacks came back and scored, plus the convert, to take the lead 8 - 7.  Both teams' defenses stopped each other drives on several occassions.  The All Blacks would score and then give up a score until eventually in the 4th quarter the score was tied 20 - 20 with 4 minutes left.  With possession of the ball the All Blacks quarterback, Rich Lafoy, threw two deep balls for receptions to take the boys in black up to the Cobras redzone.  Once there they punched it in and had the younger Lafoy throw it in to Rick Nurse for another 2 point convert.  With the score 28 - 20 and 7 plays left the Cobras were able to drive it down to the All Blacks redzone only to be intercepted by Gary Thomas of the All Blacks to end the game.  An excellent back and forth game.
After the All Blacks the Cobras had to play their second game of the day against the Red Hawks.  Despite being tired the Cobras put up a good fight forcing the Hawks to turn it over on downs several times.  In return the Hawks kept intercepting the Cobras to regain possession.  Eventually the Hawks would score but also allowed the Cobras to score in return.  At halftime the score was 13 - 8 for the Hawks.  Eventually playing two games had its repurcussions and the Hawks were able to score several times in the second half to end the game on a 27 - 8.  Chris Pierre managed to 15 points himself.

Week #4 Preamble

This Sunday the Cobras will be playing a double header at Donevan Collegiate.  They will have their work cut out for them as they will be playing the 2 strongest teams in the OTFL.  First they will play against the All Blacks who have only lost one game by a single point to the Hawks.  Second they will be playing the undefeated Hawks.  The Cobras did beat he Hounds last week but not definitively and against a mish mash of players from other teams since the Hounds have been struggling to field a full squad the entire year.
At McLaughlin (or Laugh Lin because of the post problem) the Falcons will be facing the Raiders while the Hounds will be playing a revitalized Mustangs team.  The Mustangs have picked up a group of players led by Buzz Bezzant and should be a better squad.  The Falcon have plenty of bodies but are still green in terms of experience.  The Hounds hopefully will field a full squad and will make a good game of it.
Last week in case you missed it.  Hawks beat the Mustangs 27-6 and beat the Falcons 27-0.  All Blacks beat the Raiders 20-13 and Cobras beat the Hounds 29-12.

Week #3

Week 3 began at Donevan with the All Blacks taking on the Raiders.  The All Blacks quarterback, Rich Lafoy, led them through the Raiders defense posting touchdowns by Rick Nurse, Mathew Chang, and Brent Ashby.  The Raiders were able to score 13 points against the All Blacks but it wasn't enough with the final score being 20-13.
The second game was between the Hounds and the Cobras.  The Hounds gave up 7 points before the game even started by not having enough bodies.  After picking up volunteers from the All Blacks and Raiders the game was able to begin.  The Cobras were able to post 3 scores to the Hounds 2 and take the game.  Both teams looked a little ragged around the edges however.
