We are all the same
Some names in literature and sci-fi are meant to be spoken of in reverence and awe. One of these is Kurt Vonneget. His impressive body of work in a multitude of genres has delighted and teased us and make us think about people and the world they create around them. In addition, he make us question the long held traditions, morals and convictions that we believe in. Unlike the works of Phillip K. Dick, few of his stories have been filmed - which is a pity. However, that is about to change. In 1961, he wrote a short story, 'Harrison Bergeron', which shows a rather sad and unhappy future for the Human race - shades of 'Idiocracy'. The main premise is that no-one is allowed to be better than anyone else and all manner of artificial aids are used to handicap those who are faster, stronger or smarter than the rest. This minor story is now being filmed as '2081' and you can see from the trailer that it is certainly a dark and brooding thing. Unfortunately no idea of release date yet - shame.
