No less than four couples we know are doing kitchen renovations this year. I suppose its because so many of us are living in homes 20+ years-old and it seems so much is beyond repair and is now at the stage where it needs to be replaced. In our neighbourhood, a small group of us have had windows and roofs replaced, bathrooms and bedrooms renovated. And everyone has a story to tell.
Here is mine.
Preview: A phone call last night to confirm start date and time as scheduling folks had not done so. And frankly, we hoped the demolition crew would not arrive on our doorstep before 8:00 a.m.
Day One: An email from husband provides an update to the scheduling that we've not been privy to until today:
The guys are here and are busy tearing the kitchen apart. They will be here for a couple of days.
The cabinets arrive next Monday, or Tuesday and will be installed in a day or two, so cabinets will be in by next Thursday, or Friday.
Then they come in with a computer and measure for counter top.
Ten days later the counter top is ready and then installed at which time the sink and stove are installed. I would count on at least three weeks without a sink.
Intriguing news to me because of the rush-rush, panic-urgent need to decide on cupboards and most notably, the counter top. Cabinetry and counter top that was ordered weeks and weeks ago.
I wonder why the delay dishonesty?

I can't wait for the continuing updates! Renovations are always exciting - especially when they are happening to someone else...
