Renovation: Days 15 through 27

Days 15 through 23: Waiting. Minor fixes, such as the wall re-construction that was overlooked. Five appliances (two fridges, two dishwashers, and a stove) in the dining room make for one crowded living space. Within days, a re-org takes place and the fridge and stove are pushed into place in the kitchen, the old appliances placed in the garage. [I am in Vegas for four of these nine days and the only activity around the house will be a visit to the MSH ER when the kid falls off his skateboard and lands on the trailer hitch of his dad's truck, cracking his cheekbone.]

Day 24: The counter top installed. 2008Nov20_aThere was damage to drawer facings during installation. Some adhesive was spilled and it dried. Now, we'll have to replace these pieces, too, as well as doors and trim that was damaged during installation.

Day 25: Sink installed. Dishwasher and microwave awaiting installation. Stove requires full installation, too, but we are able to cook on it and in the oven.

Day 26: The house is dusty and dirty and disorganized, but at least I don't have an allergy to dirty and disorganized, just a dislike for both. When can we paint?

Day 27: It's Sunday, a day of rest, but I can't help myself. If we haven't used it, looked at it, or enjoyed it in the past five years, it's on its way to the Salvation Army Thrift Store, or our blue recycling box.

We are heading into week five of our kitchen renovation.
