Renovation: Days Two Through Six
Days Two and Three: The contractor moved the plumbing and put up some new drywall. It's really something to watch a professional mud walls. To me, skimming and feathering is a remarkable skill.
Things are looking good. It is Wednesday.
Day Four: "Hi, we're calling to confirm delivery of your appliances for Saturday."
Day Five: What's the saying about "best-laid plans"? Un-huh, so this is what they mean by renovation hell.
- The contractor didn't show to sand the walls, which means means we cannot paint this weekend.
- Our appliances, ordered three months ago, fully paid for, and confirmed just one day earlier, won't be delivered on Saturday, which means that they won't be in for Monday morning when the cabinetry is installed, which means the countertop will be delayed.
Remember, this is the countertop that my husband had rush to the showroom to select because the decision had, had, had to be made. It was ultra important, we were told, to decide on the countertop because the manufacturer needed lead time.
As it turns out, the countertop is measured only once the cabinetry is installed. So what was the rush? Was the kitchen company concerned we'd buy it elsewhere? Pressure and fibbing are not sales tactics I'm fond of.
Day Six: The house is dusty, disorganized, and dirty. But, I am blogging rather than cleaning.

Thanks, Janet. I will. Did you get my email message? I saw the perfect editing job for you.

Hey Valerie...How are you??
I feel your pain. Our kitchen/dining room was torn down the first weekend in October and we're just getting our cabinets in this week! Check it out on www.dreamkitchenrenodiary.com.
