Wednesday Rant with Andrea McCall
Why is it so difficult to keep at a regular exercise routine?
About two years ago, I started getting up at approximately 5:30 am to be at my gym or go for a walk at 6 am. It is the time that is the most convenient for me. I work a regular day job and then I come home, make supper and disperse to whatever sport with which ever child is required. If I have an evening off, I find that I am definitely not motivated to leave my house, especially when it is dark and cold. So, by getting up early, I have less time to think about whether I want to go or not and then my evening is left free to do with it as Ichoose.
Well, that was the idea, anyways.
Since the beginning of the summer, I have been really struggling with being motivated to get to the gym at all. I sometimes sleep in, or I do wake up but decide that my bed is more comfortable and I just roll over. I know that if I do go to the gym, I will feel better because I actually did accomplish something, as well as feeling physically better from getting my blood and appropriate hormones pumping. Yet the battle continues to grow.
I truly believe it comes down to the whole "thinking" part. If I have said it once, I have said it a million times - thinking is highly overrated. If I am meeting someone to work out with, I get up and go, no thought involved. It is when I wake up and feel that I have a decision to make, where there should be no decision at all that I tend to become lazy.
Well, at least I have a little motivation now. Jenn, my travel agent friend who set Val and I up with the awesome Las Vegas package has just set me up with the most unbelievable Jamaica deal. So Jan. 8th, I leave for sun and fun. Jenn, you really are awesome!
This morning, I woke up, no thinking involved, and headed to the gym. Hopefully, I will build the non-thinking routine that will last after my Jamaica trip!

Woohoo! Happy to be able to provide the motivation! Maybe I should have booked myself *with* you to get motivated as well.
