Crowd getting restless

Mayoral candidate Gil Brocanier chats with supporters as the crowd at Victoria Hall awaits election results. Results were expected to be made available at 8 p.m. but were delayed when polls were extended to 9 p.m.

The crowd has swelled to about 100 people and voters have been making their way upstairs to check out the scene after casting their ballots at the polling station downstairs.

Rumours of voting glitches abound

Council candidates Forrest Rowden and Donna Todd chat as they await election results at Victoria Hall.

Rumours of technical glitches with the voting process are spreading fast and furious here, with one resident walking in for results only to be dismayed to learn that the polls had been extended. She wasn't surprised though, she said, because it had taken her more than an hour to vote after waiting in line through several technical glitches.

Candidate Donna Todd also said she would like to find out why some neighbourhoods failed to receive their PIN numbers, which may have attributed to a larger than expected turnout at polling stations.

Incumbent council candidate Bill MacDonald is in good spirits as he continues to await election results after a one-hour extension of the polls.

Acclaimed Deputy Mayor Stan Frost has just announced that the Cobourg polls are actually being extended until 9 p.m. to a large and unexpected late voter turnout. The polls will remain open to accomodate voter volume.

Cobourg polls extended

Word in the Concert Hall is that the Cobourg polling station at Victoria Hall has been extended to 8:30 p.m. following some internet issues that stalled computers that had been set up to allow residents to vote.

The mood in the Concert Hall is growing anxious as candidates eagerly await results that were originally expected any minute, however word on the polling station extension is starting to spread.

Media reporting from the Concert Hall were also experiencing technical issues, no official word yet.
