Streetcore at the Atria Jan 9
I'm a suckerpunch for raw punk rawk with a twang to it... it may just be the folk music of the young canuck...its at its base a bush party singalong that get faster as the twofer empties out... and all those that can't sing and can't play join in. Its the youthful enthusiasm I guess and thats really what punk rawk is all about.
So Streetcore, a quartet from Clinton and Varna, get the nod for a gig at the Atria on the 9th of January. They will be bringing their boisterous Clash rockers to the house opening for Corporation and Maple Street Impressions. I'd go for Streetcore.
"Our favourite bands are Fake Problems, Against Me!, The Gaslight Anthem, The Clash, Bright Eyes. Its a brand of music that feels legitimate. No bullshit, just good songs, good times, and good fun", says bassist Keith Holland by email.
"We dont play that many shows during the school year due to the fact Patrick still is in high school, which is two hours away from Toronto where the rest of us go to school. In the summer we play quite frequently and this summer we plan to tour Ontario and Quebec."
Other members are Cameron Laurie (ex Better English) on guitar/vox, Ivan Raczycki also on guitar/vox and the aforementioned schoolboy Patrick Armstrong on drums.
Streetcore have two EPs available, Not Buying What They're Selling, and The Proud, The Few. A full length is due in the Spring.
